Thanks for the engagement, Amanda. The way I see it is, yes, it was selfish of him to reach out like that and use some dumb excuse. But I know his heart better than to think it was purely a ploy, as to be honest, he isn't capable of emotional manipulation like that.

I fear it was a symptom of his still being confused, something he wasn't able to admit to either himself or me, and this is based on the things he said to me during our conversation.

But at the end of the day, as I stated in my story, it was just another lesson in letting go. For both of us. I understand it as something that had to happen so that I could let go of the fantasy of reunification and get started on the real work of moving on.
