I first came across Rachel a few years ago, and I'll admit, at first I really liked her. Maybe it was the appeal of a woman who could have it all, a self-made career, an adorable family and a committed partner. I was going through a breakup and I think I over-idealized what her life represented to me.

Then I bought her first book and read that passage that you mentioned about when her and her husband were still dating. It rubbed me the wrong way and I ended up not finishing the book because of it.

Then I just sort of fell off the bandwagon. I had a bad taste left in my mouth and couldn't put my finger on why.

Anyway, I hadn't given it much thought until I read your article. It's crazy to read all these comments who have had the same inclinations that we've had!
